Alpha Lambda Delta consists of 260 chapters at colleges and universities across the United States. The UAH Chapter was established in 1974 and is one of the oldest honorariums on campus. Although membership is for a lifetime, it can only be obtained through your academic performance during your freshman year of college. Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority Alpha Omicron Pi was founded on January 2, 1897 and currently has over 190 international chapters. Interfraternal Council Fraternity The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the programming and governing body of its 5 fraternities at UAH. Every man who joins one of these groups is a member of IFC. Jesus People Bible Study Group Religious, Multicultural Jesus People Bible Study Group is a non-denominational body where everyone is welcome. Our values are centered on the discipleship of Christ Jesus, hence the major activities that we do are bible study, evangelism, and end of semester outreaches. Joy of Thinking Academic JoT is a math and physics oriented academic group, founded on the principles that thinking should be a delightful, joyous, rewarding experience and collaborative learning is both beneficial and necessary in a university setting. National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Multicultural The UAH Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) focuses on community service through volunteering (tutoring, mentoring, etc.) and political empowerment through means such as a voter registration drive and forums. NAACP is a minority student organization that focuses on helping other minorities in the community and on campus to know the importance of education and the importance of using your rights as a citizen. Pep Band, UAH Sponsored, Special Interest The official pep band for The University of Alabama in Huntsville, this organization provides spirited music and cheering at home games for hockey and men's & women's basketball. Perpetua: The UAH Journal of Undergraduate Research Academic, Special Interest Perpetua is an undergraduate-run research journal that puts the spotlight on undergraduates. We seek to showcase quality undergraduate student research, scholarly exploration, and creative work taking place at The University of Alabama Huntsville. Perpetua recognizes mentor-supported research and creative projects in all disciplines. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity On January 9th, 1914 at Howard University in Washington, D.C., three young men founded Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc to exemplify the ideals of Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service while being guided by the motto "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity." Ever since its founding, the fraternity has viewed itself as 'a part of' the general community rather than 'apart from' it. What started as one chapter has now grown to over 700 chapters and 200,000 brothers internationally. The Alpha Sigma Alpha chapter was officially recognized at UAH in March 2007, and continually strives to be the beacon of light envisioned by the founders through philanthropic, educational, and community service projects on the university campus and surrounding communities. Psi Chi, UAH Honor Society Psi Chi is the International honor society for psychology students. In order to be inducted into this organization, students must be at least a second year student and have declared psychology as their major/minor. Additionally, students must have taken at least 9 hours of psychology courses at UAH, maintained a 3.0 GPA in those courses, and be ranked in the top 35% of their class in overall GPA. Ultimate Frisbee Recreational The UAH Ultimate Club is the competitive ultimate frisbee team that competes on behalf of UAH in the USA Ultimate College Championship Series, and associated tournament events. UPSTORM Academic Within UPSTORM, students will be trained on numerous weather balloon sounding systems, have the opportunity to go into the field and launch weather balloons, get hands on experience with research vehicles, and have the opportunity to lead a team of undergraduates into the field to launch balloons.
